Getting involved with the project
Here you’ll find information letting you know how you can keep informed and get involved with the project.
Who is involved in the research?
-
Changing Minds is guiding the project on behalf of Manatū Hauora | Ministry of Health. Changing Minds is proudly led by and for Tāngata Mātau ā-wheako, people who have their own experiences of mental distress, addiction or substance use. As kaitiaki of this project, we bring our own experiences and insights, as well as Lived Experience community knowledge gained over the past 25 years. Through listening to community, we have developed Lived Experience-led approaches to kōrero and insights, and are committed to inclusion, transparency and accountability.
-
This is a collective of individuals or groups who have strong ties to, are leaders in, or represent different community networks, and they will inform the design of questions, interview approaches and analysis, as well as connecting in with their networks of community.
-
Changing Minds is passionate about empowering our community to develop their skills and expertise, and to be leaders in research about us. We will be training and supporting Tāngata Whaiora to be interviewers for this research, and to act as “coders” on the research team.
-
Over the next 12 months we will be looking for between 100 – 120 people who have experiences of wellbeing systems to talk about their experiences.
These will be approximately 90-minute-long interviews.
NZSL interpreters will be available.
Interviews will be online (in-person interviews may be possible on request).
You will be paid for your time for the interviews.
It’s also important that communities have the opportunity to discuss, understand and reshape developing knowledge, so feedback loops and focus groups are planned throughout the project.
How can I find out more?
There are many ways to keep in touch and get involved with this project. We are regularly posting on our social media channels, and information is also shared in our monthly email newsletters. This mahi will inform the Ministry of Health and government’s work, and our reports and outputs will be available to communities to lead their own wellbeing navigation, sense making and learning.
If you have any questions or want to have a kōrero about this mahi, email our Community Insights Lead, Megan at megan@changingminds.org.nz.
